Benzenesulfonic acid,4-(dimethylamino)- - Introduction
4-(dimethylamino)benzenesulphonic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula C8H11NO3S. The following is a description of its nature, use, preparation and safety information:
Nature:
4-(dimethylamino) benzensulphonic acid is a white crystalline solid, sometimes yellow or brown. It is soluble in water and hygroscopic. Its melting point is about 160°C.
Use:
4-(dimethylamino)benzenesulphonic acid is widely used in organic synthesis reactions, for example, as a raw material for dyes, and can also be used to prepare fluorescent dyes and fluorescent probes. In addition, it can also be used as acid dyes, such as aluminum ion dyes, carboxymethyl indicators.
Method:
The preparation of 4-(dimethylamino)benzenesulphonic acid can be obtained by reduction and alkylation of p-nitrophenol. First, nitrophenol is reacted with dimethylamine to undergo a reduction reaction under appropriate conditions to produce 4-dimethylaminophenol. 4-dimethylaminophenol is then reacted with chlorosulfonic acid to produce 4-(dimethylamino)benzenesulphonic acid.
Safety Information:
4-(dimethylamino) benzensulphonic acid is generally considered to be a low-toxic compound, but appropriate safety measures still need to be taken. In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse immediately with water. Wear protective gloves and goggles during use to avoid inhaling the scattered dust. During storage and operation, it should be avoided to react with strong oxidants and strong acids to avoid danger.
